It’s difficult to imagine that Troy McQuagge could have anticipated the success he would achieve when he graduated from Central Florida in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies. However, upon graduation he seemed to have found his niche in insurance and remained in the industry for over 30 years. Now a veteran and leader in his chosen area of endeavor, he is being recognized for his accomplishments.
Beginning his career with Allstate Insurance right out of college, McQuagge embraced the insurance industry. By 1997, he was president of UICI’s insurance agency, UGA setting many sales records. From there, after their acquisition by private equity investors in 2006, Mr. McQuagge led the sales and marketing department. From then on, he has moved from one leadership position to another, landing in 2010 in USHealth Group and leading it to over $1 billion in annual sales volume.
Since McQuagge’s employment with USHealth, he has functioned as president and CEO of its insurance sales subsidiary, USHealth Advisors, LLC, resulting in record annual sales results during each year of his leadership. In 2014, McQuagge accepted promotion to become the insurance company’s president, vowing to continue his growth policies while working with the board and steering the company to responsible corporate practices and social responsibility.
In 2016, Mr. McQuagge was named a gold award winner in the prestigious CEO World Awards for Most Innovative CEO of the Year in the insurance category. This coveted title is extremely competitive. Nominees are evaluated on their corporate social responsibility, new products and services, innovation, leadership and general performance. The award is international so there are nominees from all over the globe as CEO World Awards seeks to honor the most deserving leaders in each category. This award specifically recognizes innovation, a trait with which Troy McQuagge has been long associated as he employed cutting-edge policies to increase sales, streamline procedures and recognize excellence in his staff and company.
Typical of Mr. McQuagge, his acceptance was modest, deferring the award from himself and preferring to consider it a recognition of the innovation, corporate conscience and excellence of USHealth.
Also in 2016, Mr. McQuagge was named the Gold Winner as CEO of the Year in the prestigious One Planet Awards. These awards honor business and professional excellence in all industries around the world. Nominees are accepted from all types of businesses and industries, including for-profit, non-profit, established old guard and start-ups.
Again, Troy McQuagge’s acceptance comments reflect on the success of USHealth and its hard-working employees rather than himself personally. Hard-working, modest and dedicated, Mr. McQuagge is by no means topping out with his awards in 2016; he is an insurance man to keep an eye on for the future.
