InnovaCare’s current President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Richard Shinto, has worked in healthcare for over 20 years. Through his clinical and operational healthcare, Shinto brings experience, knowledge, and the ability to transform healthcare.
Before taking the position of CEO at InnovaCare, Shinto was Chief Operating Officer as well as Chief Medical Officer for the Medical Pathways Management Company. Then he held the position of Corporate Vice President of Medical Management for MedPartners. Then he moved on to Chief Medical Officer for Cal Optima Health Plan and Chief Medical Officer of NAMM California. His medical tenure was as a pulmonologist and internist.
Shinto earned a Bachelors in Science earned from the University of California. His medical degree is from the State University of New York. Shinto also earned an M.B.A. from the University of Redlands. He has published work on healthcare as well as clinical medicine.
The current Chief Administrative Officer of InnovaCare is Penelope Kokkinides who was previously the Chief Operating Officer and Vice President Clinical Operations of InnovaCare. Penelope graces her position with over 20 years of experience in healthcare and especially with Medicare and Medicaid programs. Her skills extend into developing programs and processes to assist with improving the process for patients. The ultimate goal of InnovaCare Health is to make the process of working with government programs like Medicare and Medicaid more efficient.
Kokkinides previously held the position of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for Centerlight HealthCare. Here she was took care of managed care division, where she oversaw the infrastructure of the operation. She was also the Chief Operating Officer of Touchstone Health and Corporate Vice President for Care Management and Disease Management at AmeriChoice. This was a department connection to UnitedHealth Group. She was responsible for creating the overall health plan and process for the company.
Her education is impressive. Kokkinides earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and classical languages from Binghamton University. She has master’s degree in social work from New York University. She supplemented her education with a post-master’s program advanced degree in alcohol and substance abuse. She also holds a master’s degree in public health from Columbia University School of Public Health.
